Migrant workers, sharecroppers, the impoverished, imprisoned, illegally interned, and Dust Bowl dirty. The honest images that Dorothea Lange captured show people tethered to the earth, often contrasted against an expansive sky. This is Dorothea’s work and our American legacy. Her images helped set these people free.
